It is with incredible pride that we share Nolan’s inspiring story and his first successful elk hunt. Not only did Nolan take a cow elk on his recent trip to Montana, but he also found his first elk shed antler along the way—a treasure that he’ll carry with him as a memento of this life-changing adventure.

Nolan, who is 10 years old, has overcome more challenges in his young life than most could ever imagine. Diagnosed with leukemia at just three years old, he beat it, only to face a relapse three months later. After years of treatments, Nolan beat cancer for the second time in March 2023. His journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and his resilience shines through in everything he does.

Before his diagnosis, Nolan was an outgoing little boy with a big personality. Over the years, battling selective mutism brought on by the stress of his medical journey, he became shy and withdrawn. But since his port was removed, Nolan has started to blossom once more. This school year, he found his voice again, and his outgoing spirit is shining brightly. He now loves playing football, basketball, and going hunting—a passion he discovered through outings with his grandfather, Mark.

Through it all, Nolan has remained relentlessly positive, never letting the challenges he faced diminish his excitement for life or his eagerness to embrace new adventures. His optimistic outlook and determination inspire everyone around him.

When it came to hunting elk, Nolan faced some initial struggles with shooting, but his determination paid off. Guided by patience and practice from our volunteer and official guide Josh Sanofsky, Nolan gained confidence and eventually made a perfect shot when the moment mattered most. Seeing him running down through the snow and eventually standing over his harvested elk, smiling proudly, was an emotional and unforgettable moment for everyone involved.

Nolan’s hunt would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors, guides, and volunteers who dedicate themselves to making Outdoor Dreams a reality. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the N Bar and Three Bar Ranch owners and to Josh and Tamarel Sanofsky who worked tirelessly to ensure Nolan had an unforgettable experience. This trip not only gave Nolan the opportunity to fill his family’s freezer with organic meat but also helped him reclaim years of lost childhood joy.

We share Nolan’s story to highlight the incredible impact Outdoor Dreams can have and to ask for your continued support in helping children like him create lasting memories.
