Fulfilled Dreams
This November, 16-year-old Roman achieved a lifelong dream: a big game hunting adventure made possible by Outdoor Dreams.
Roman’s journey to this moment has been anything but ordinary. Born with spina bifida, he has faced challenges like mobility limitations, hydrocephalus, and kidney failure, requiring nightly dialysis. He is also currently on the kidney transplant list, awaiting the opportunity for a new lease on life. Despite these hurdles, Roman has always embraced life with determination and a positive spirit.
Roman’s adventure began with a local hunt in Western Washington despite only having one evening to get out into the woods. Determined to harvest his first deer before heading to Montana, he made a flawless 300-yard shot off our RRA tripod, securing a beautiful buck. This moment was just the beginning of an unforgettable hunting season.
From there, Outdoor Dreams flew Roman and his step-dad to Billings, Montana, where they met their guide Josh Sanofsky and Founder Conlan McConnell. Upon arrival, Roman was outfitted with top-notch gear, including a Badlands daypack, Vortex binoculars, blaze orange clothing, game bags, an Outdoor Edge knife, and a $200 Kuiu gift card—all generously provided to ensure he was ready for the adventure ahead.
The first morning in Montana brought an incredible opportunity. A four-point mule deer buck appeared in the distance, cruising through the hills on a mission to find a doe. The team watched as the deer covered nearly half a mile before presenting the perfect opportunity for a shot. With precision and focus, Roman took the long-range shot and harvested a buck many hunters only dream of.
Next and with two days left to hunt, Roman turned his attention to filling his cow elk tag. For the rest of the hunt, he and his step-dad worked tirelessly alongside their guide, navigating challenging terrain and searching for the elusive elk. On his final day, Roman’s persistence paid off, and he made an outstanding long-range shot, dropping his first elk where it stood.
In a period of two weeks, Roman harvested two bucks and one elk—a feat that would make a seasoned hunter envious. Throughout the experience, Roman’s enthusiasm and gratitude shone brightly. He shared how excited he was to tell his friends about his hunts, proudly noting that he now has the biggest buck and only elk among them.
Roman’s dream hunt was more than just a hunting trip. It was a celebration of his resilience and a reminder that with support, determination, and a little bit of courage, anything is possible. His family expressed deep gratitude to Outdoor Dreams for making this experience possible, creating lifelong memories for Roman and his step-dad.
